From the UK and Italy to Morocco and Egypt, yoga enthusiasts around the world will be unrolling their mats on the 21 June 2022 to celebrate the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. As the sun reaches its highest position, we welcome in the summer season, and with it, the light it brings.
Light plays a massive role in our lives illuminating our favourite activities and time with friends and families. Yet, 578 million people in sub-Saharan Africa lack access to clean, safe, reliable light. When the sun sets, communities are plunged into total darkness.
This year, we are joining with yoga teachers and studios around the globe to celebrate the power of light and raise money to light up every home, school and clinic in Africa with clean, safe solar power.
This is a mass global yoga event open to people of all ages – from keen practitioners to yoga newbies. It is also opportunity for yoga teachers and studios around the world to connect with their students and new practitioners while simultaneously helping families across sub-Saharan Africa access clean, renewable energy.
