Tune in to our Radio 4 Appeal!

We are excited to let you know that SolarAid has been chosen by BBC Radio 4 to run an Appeal. The renowned author and columnist Matthew Syed, a long-time friend of SolarAid, will be presenting the appeal.

Ten years ago, Matthew travelled with us to a village in rural Tanzania. He visited Idodi School, a school and community that has suffered an unimaginable tragedy. This experience has stayed with Matthew, who saw first-hand both the tragedy that lack of electricity can bring and also the incredible impact that clean, renewable light can have on peoples’ lives. As Matthew explains, ‘The gift of safe, clean light… can be, in my view, transformative.’

We know from past appeals on Radio 4 that this is an opportunity to bring this important issue to the attention of a wider audience and support work which has a phenomenal impact!

With 600 million people living without access to electricity across Sub-Saharan Africa and whole communities left in darkness each night at 6pm, with no electricity to power lights to study, work, or to socialise, so much more needs to be done to help make sure that more families can access clean, safe, renewable light.
You can help change this situation.

Please help us spread the word about this appeal. Please ask people to tune in to Radio 4 on Sunday 24th November at 07:55 or 21:26. Put it in your calendar!

Together, we can make sure that by 2030, no one is left in the dark.
