“Today sees the release of our second ever impact report. The report is jam packed with information celebrating the amazing impact that you’ve helped us achieve over the last 12 months. We’ve made some great progress and we can’t wait to share it with you.

This Impact Report takes a look at the year that saw us sell our millionth light in rural Africa and outlines plans for our new activities which will have an even greater impact on people living in Africa with no access to electricity.

What’s more, we’re really open about how we calculate our impact and we think you’ll be pleased to see it; the research function that was started just two years ago has now grown significantly, providing some of the most comprehensive data in the world on energy access in rural Africa.

Our teams working across Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Senegal and Zambia spend each day conducting research to understand the environment we’re working in, following up with solar light users to understand how they use their lights and making sure that all our learning is fed straight into future programme design, strategy planning, and policy work. And not just for SolarAid and SunnyMoney but for the sector as a whole.

We hope you enjoy reading the report and are as proud as we are of what’s been achieved so far. There is still a very long way to go but we’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks for being a part of the journey so far, however big or small. Working together is the only way we’re going to eradicate the kerosene lamp from Africa”.

Thanks for this Kat, and thanks to all our supporters for being part of the solar movement.
