For millions of people across sub-Saharan Africa – the day ends when the sun sets. This means children can’t study, impacting their ability to achieve the future they would desire.
Solar lights can bring change at the flick of a switch. Families can cook dinner more easily, market traders can keep doing business – and of course children can study, working towards their dreams.
Fabriola Davidson is 15 and lives in Tembetembe Village in the Dedza district of Malawi. After dark she would study by the light of a torch – but batteries were a luxury her family could scarcely afford.

She remembers the struggle of studying by torch light – “In the end I was not performing well in class because sometimes, I just read a little bit and the torch light went off. I failed because I was not able to study enough”.
Fabriola dreamed of becoming a nurse, but without access to light, this dream for her future was beginning to fade.
But overnight things changed with the family acquiring their own solar light. Now Fabriola can sit in front of the family home reading and studying again. Her school marks have improved and now she can dream once more.
We can only support more families to light up the dreams of children like Fabriola with people like you in our community of supporters.
