SunnyMoney have been working with Rob Cunliffe from Legado who “protect the world’s most threatened mountain ecosystems by empowering the people who call them home”.
Their flagship project on the beautiful Mount Namuli, in northern Mozambique, engages world-renowned scientists, local community activists and conservation leaders to secure a vibrant future for the mountain and the people who depend on it. They’ve also created an amazing an inspirational film about Mount Namuli (Mozambique’s tallest mountain) which is on tour around the world at the moment – you can watch the trailer on their website.
Rob, collected some lights from our Lilongwe, Malawi office in June 2017 and, working with a new field team, delivered them to a rural community near Mount Namuli, Mozambique. If all goes well, this will hopefully develop into an opportunity to set up a new SolarAid / SunnyMoney outlet in Mozambique.
Legado have identified solar energy in schools and health facilities as a key component to their social benefits programming . Having worked with SolarAid since 2015 and recognised the multiple positive impacts solar energy can have Legado were keen for solar to be part of the programme. We wish them every success and look forward to working with them to provide more solar to Mozambique.
