Panaga School in Brunei has organised a Winter Market two years in a row to support SolarAid’s work.
The school wanted the children to learn about the fact that over 1 billion people around the world do not have access to electricity. The children of P5 quickly engaged with this and their empathy grew, asking the question – ‘what can we do to help those less fortunate than ourselves?’.
The children reflected on the part of Malawi where people live with limited access to electricity, and decided to support SolarAid by holding a Winter Market.
We wanted to support a charity that used renewable energy, such as solar, to help disadvantaged people from around the world. — Tania Mehlhopt, P5 teacher
Students created a wide range of products at home and school to sell on the day, decorating the classrooms and designing and constructing games with circuits.
Panaga School has raised an incredible £1,548 through their Winter Markets. Everyone at SolarAid would like to say a HUGE thank you to all at Panaga School for helping us to End the Darkness.
