Building a brighter future with the solar industry

Lyndsay Dixon

At SolarAid, we believe in building true, sustainable connections with people and companies who are dedicated to making our world better. Our charity was born out of the solar industry and since then we’ve built incredible partnerships with companies within the industry that share our mission to bring affordable, clean energy to communities no one else is reaching.

When the sun sets in sub-Saharan Africa, almost 600 million people are forced to rely on dangerous, toxic lighting sources for a little bit of light. But, SolarAid has a simple solution. By using the power of the sun, we have created sustainable innovations that have the potential to scale across the continent, transform lives and help communities to thrive.

But we can’t do it alone. This is where the wider solar industry comes in — this is your  chance to truly make a difference. By bringing the  sector together,  joining us on our journey to deliver 100% energy access, we can help create a brighter, safer, and more sustainable future for millions of families.

A wonderful example of how this works in action is our partnership with Solar & Storage Live. Our partnership is built on a strong shared purpose; creating a brighter future powered by clean, safe, renewable energy. The passionate team behind these global industry events is helping us live our purpose, giving us a platform to showcase the transformational impact of solar power and build a community of support with companies and individuals who believe in making sustainable change happen for people and the planet.

In September last year at the Solar & Storage Live Awards in Birmingham, we proudly shone a spotlight on our award winning, flagship programme Light a Village and connected with like-minded industry contacts and advocates of our work. Since then, we are thrilled that our relationship with Solar & Storage Live has grown, with their willingness and enthusiasm to amplify SolarAid’s mission across their global events network and industry news platform.

This year, Solar & Storage Live’s continued support is helping us to strengthen our voice, and profile through their global reach, and build new relationships within a sector which aligns so strongly with our vision of a world where everyone has access to clean, renewable energy.

If you’d like to find out more about us, and be part of our journey alongside many other companies in the industry, come along and meet our CEO John Keane and myself at Solar & Storage Live at ExCel London this April. We’ll be hosting an informal meet up session on April 3rd 1:00pm – 2:00pm at the Meet Up Zone. We would love to see you there!

Our mission can only be achieved through the support of partners and individuals who enable us to develop sustainable solutions that bring solar light and power to the most vulnerable communities. By uniting as a sector, we have the power to brighten the lives of millions at the simple flick of a switch.

We hope to see you at Solar & Storage Live this April. Entry to the event is free, but please register for your ticket by visiting Solar & Storage Live London 2025. If you can’t make it but would still like to connect, email Lyndsay Dixon at [email protected].

Together, we can make real sustainable change happen.
