Ghana, 16-22 March 2019
This week, over 2,500 delegates have gathered to boost ambitious climate action in Africa following the conclusion of the ‘Katowice Climate Package’ at the COP24. Africa Climate Week is being hosted by the Ghanaian government and will support the implementation of countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals.
This year is the “Year of Ambition” and this week is the bringing together multi-lateral organisations, such as the World Bank and the United Nations Develop Programme, with different actors from the public and private sectors to drastically increase national climate action plans. Regional Climate Weeks are scheduled across the globe in the lead up to the next United Nations climate change conference that recently was announced to be taking place in Chile this December.
