Fabiola reads a book by the power of her solar light, igniting her imagination and her dreams.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

As kids, we all dreamed of a brighter future, one where we could do anything and be anyone we wanted. Maybe we wanted to become a superhero, have 10 children or be even be President one day?

Regardless of our ambitions, many of us would not be where we are today without our education. School might be fun, but it’s also the starting point of a long journey and it can open the doors to countless opportunities.

We know that a good education can change everything. But for children in rural Malawi, who have no access to electricity, it’s almost impossible to study at night. When the sun goes down, there’s no time for homework. No time to read the books that take them to magical lands. No chance to dream of a different future.

That’s why we created Light Libraries, so students can borrow a solar light from school and take it home to study after dark. It’s simple and it’s effective.

“We’ve seen that the light library has improved performance […] the light library is helping the school a lot.” said Beatrice, Headteacher at Kalira School, Malawi.

To celebrate the power of light, we’re asking you to share your dreams with us!
