SolarAid is an international charity that combats poverty and climate change. We provide access to solar lights to help catalyse solar markets in Africa.

We are seeking a Marketing Assistant to help with general marketing duties and social media in our London based office.

The main tasks of the role are:

  • Developing and uploading content to the website
  • Designing marketing and promotional materials
  • Managing our databases and communications with our supporters
  • Using tools such as Buffer and Hootsuite to schedule social media posts
  • Developing campaign ideas and sending e-newsletters
  • Writing blog posts
  • And other administrative duties as required

Full training will be given in all aspects of the role as well as general marketing tips, tools and tricks, so this is an ideal opportunity for someone that is looking to gain experience in the world of charity marketing. The role will be based in our Old Street office and is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to develop a career within the charity sector to grow their experience by working as part of a small, dedicated team.

If you are interested, please have a look around our website and include some thoughts in your application on the site in general, or any speculative ideas you may have about how to improve the site or SolarAid’s social media presence. This is essential in order for us to determine if you can conduct research and provide intelligent feedback – which is a key part of the role.

Please DO NOT just send your CV and a standard text as a covering letter because these generic applications will not help you get the role. You should mention how you think your skills and / or qualifications and experience will help you and why you would be good at the role, but experience is less important to us than enthusiasm.

An interest in solar, charity and international development would be a distinct advantage, as would an understanding of Adobe Creative Suite. Please mention if you have these when applying.

This is a full time role, with a salary of £22,000/year and the potential for increased remuneration after a successful probationary period.

We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, so please apply as soon as you can by emailing

We look forward to hearing from you!
