Hi Cai,
great work on the solar pump! We work with rope pumps a lot (my colleague has 20 years of experiments with the rope pump), and we thought we'd share some of our stuff with you. Most importantly, there is a good technical manual with all kinds of construction details on normal rope hand pumps. Here it is:
