The SolarAid South America project
Welcome to our blog page for this exciting project that will cover four countries in South America. The aim is to help indigenous communities set up their solar businesses so that they can build, maintain and repair their own solar systems and generate their own electricity and much-needed income.
We are doing this project in partnership with Fundación Avina, a major philanthropic foundation that works exclusively in South America and has strong network of local partner organisations there, and Warme, a local NGO run by indigenous people in Jujuy, in northern Argentina. The work will start initially in Jujuy and will then expand to neighbouring Bolivia, Peru and Chile.
While Fundación Avina will be helping with some of the local funding, there is still quite a bit of money that we need to raise, so your donations will be extremely useful! If enough of you could give £10 or £20 a month as a regular donation, that would ensure the long-term sustainability of the project in order to have the greatest impact among the local indigenous populations.
