UK Industry Taskforce launch report on peak oil

Last week, eight leading UK companies launched a report, The Oil Crunch: Securing the UK's energy future, setting out a series of practical recommendations for Government, including action to grasp the significant economic and environmental opportunities from a step-change in investment in renewable energy and sustainable transport.

The report is the first multi-company alarm bell to be sounding on peak oil, and comes from the newly-formed UK Industry Taskforce on Peak Oil and Energy Security (comprising the likes of Arup, Foster + Partners, Scottish and Southern Energy, Solarcentury and Virgin Group). The panel presenting the report at the Press Conference included SolarAid's Chairman Jeremy Leggett.

The report was launched on Wednesday 29 October at The London Stock Exchange.
