Wreford Miles has chosen SolarAid as the charity to help, raising money for our projects in Africa, by taking part in 2009's Heroes Legend Rally from Paris to Dakar.

Wreford Miles on the bike he will be riding on from Paris to Dakar
Wreford will be attempting this mammoth journey in just 14 days, racing an incredible 500km each day on his 1987 BMW R80 bike. The bike has been modified with added suspension, which will no doubt be needed with the tough terrain Wreford will encounter on his journey; including twisty mountain roads, oasis crossings, dusty tracks and sand dunes.
Wreford will leave Paris on March 7 and will ride through France, Spain, Morocco and Mauritania, finishing at the Lac Rose, Dakar, in Senegal on March 21.

SolarAid volunteer Miguel Ramirez today won a World of Difference award from the Vodafone Foundation, allowing him to spend a year working with SolarAid full time.
In July, the Vodafone Foundation announced that it would offer the opportunity to support four individuals with £25,000 towards their salaries as well as £20,000 in expenses. Now, following a huge response from hundreds of inspirational candidates, the foundation has decided to select six winners instead of the planned four.
Miguel will be assisting SolarAid with its programmes work and IT. SolarAid Director Nick Sireau said: 'This is fantastic news for us. Miguel works extremely hard and is a huge asset for our charity.'
