Four men and their bikes...
On 26 July, four very dedicated SolarAid supporters will attempt to cycle 240 miles from London to Cornwall in a single day! These chaps are David, Ady, Chris and Alec.
All the money they raise will be going to SolarAid, so needless to say we are extremely grateful to them, and we're also full with utter admiration.
The idea started several months ago when one of the guys suggested they did the ride. Then to make things even harder on themselves, they thought they'd notch the challenge up to another level by attempting the trip in a single 24 hour period. "That sounds more painful than fun!" one of the chaps exclaimed. But the challenge somehow stuck. A few thousand miles of training (and much chafing) later, and the boys are ready to go next weekend.
For you stats fans reading this, 240 miles is approximately twice the length of most stages of the Tour de France! Over the course, they will climb approximately the height of Mont Blanc (thanks to those Devonshire and Cornish moors!), they will each burn around 12,000 calories and each of their pedals will turn round some 64,000 times.
Please show your support for this fantastic challenge, and help SolarAid at the same time by sponsoring the team here: www.justgiving.com/daveadychrisalec
